It’s been quite a while since I last posted so there’s been a lot going on. First stop was for Sun and Bass out in Sardinia, which is always a highlight of the year, I played on the Monday night with Nu:tone, Mc Wrec, Alix Perez, Lynx and Kemo. It was really going off in there and was probably my favourite Sun and Bass to date. I also managed to catch a few killer sets out there from the likes of Breakage, Calibre and Marcus Intalex. Roll on 2010!
I left Sardinia and headed for Sao Paulo to play the Spirit of London festival. The late nights playing cards and drinking the lethal cocktails meant that I slept the whole way to Brazil. I even woke up after we’d landed. Love that! Once past customs and immigration I was greeted by my driver Wagner (such a good name) and taken to my hotel. He later told me that he’d driven for Nicole Kidman, Vin Diesel, and had previously been Lenny Kravitz’ personal driver for a couple of years whilst living in New York. How was this man now driving drum and bass peeps? Once on the road he told me that 6am is a bad time to drive to the centre of Sao Paulo as it’s rush hour. With rush hour comes the threat of crime. He went on to explain that he would keep to the third lane when possible as if you were on the inside lane you were at greater risk of being held at gunpoint when stopping at traffic lights. Yikes. It was a bit much to take in at 6am but fascinating all the same. The festival itself was brilliant and it was great to catch up with Dj Marky and the rest of the crew out there. Without doubt one of my favourite gigs this year, if not ever.
After Brazil it was over to Buenos Aires to play for Orange and the Plus 160 crew, I had no idea what to expect but I really fell in love with the city. The party was another great one and playing two hour sets is always more rewarding than the usual hour. Orange also played a great set dropping everything from Ed Rush and Optical and old Peshay to Joker and even some Ian Brown. Massive shout to the lighting guy as well who made me feel completely tripped out for my whole set. Beer + jetlag + crazy lights = mild hallucinations.
Also a massive thank you to everyone who came down to the launch party at East Village in London, I was really surprised by the turn out with it being a school night an’ all so BIG big ups for making it such a good one.
